Kelly
Ethan’s first book was published in September 2006 with
Samhain Publishing. She has since had a paranormal romance
contracted to Freya’s Bower. She enjoys writing paranormal,
fast-paced romantic stories.
She has decided to try her hand in a different genre and is
currently writing an urban fantasy young adult novel and
loving every minute of it!
No matter the genre, Kelly loves kick-ass, sarcastic
heroines who like to save the day and the hero.

Kelly Ethan
is a mother of one crazy, smart, energetic little boy who
delights in driving her slightly insane. Writing is her
outlet for madness and she uses it well. She started
sneaking Mills and Boon books into her room at the ripe old
age of 14 and has never looked back.
She didn’t consider writing until she was pregnant with her
son (she blames it on hormones!) when she wrote her first
book. Since then she’s reviewed books for CataRomance.com
and has been living, breathing and sleeping writing. Kelly
is married to her own hero in the army and they move
regularly around Australia.
Her influences are the heavies of the biz: Sherrilyn Kenyon,
Laurel K Hamilton, Kim Harrison, JD Robb, Christine Feehan
and Katie McCallister. She has also fallen in love with
David Weber and Mercedes Lackey. The most important of them
all would be Alexis Fleming, her wonderful mother, who has
always encouraged, supported and put up with her frequent
‘what next’ phone calls.

What is your favorite
kind of movies?
I love sci fi and fantasy. Loved Harry Potter and LOTR
(didn’t everyone lol), I loved the kiwi film Black Sheep. I
also like action flicks and spies stories like Die hard 4.0,
Casino Royale (Bond..yumm) and The Bourne Ultimatum. As for
romance movies… Pride and Prejudice, Being Jane Austen and
The Lake house are among my favs.
What books do you like
to read?
Ack… you should see my study, almost overflowing with books.
I love paranormal anything J, I like erotica, military and
spy stories but I love young adult books…
What are your favorite scenes to write?
Fight scenes, I enjoy. Hubby helps with the basic
choreographing but otherwise it’s all my imagination. I also
like the scenes that involve my heroine’s dialogue. I love
females that have quick comebacks and smart mouths. I
frequently giggle my way through writing.
Who are your favorite authors?
I have just finished reading Keri Arthur’s Embraced by
Darkness and loved it. Also Laurell K Hamilton, Meg Cabot,
PC Cast, Linnea Sinclair, David Weber, Mercedes Lackey,
Rachel Caine, Kresley Cole, Kate Douglas, Sherrilyn Kenyon,
Mary Janice Davidson, Alyssa Day, Michael Spradlin and of
course Alexis Fleming J

Where do you get your
ideas?
Generally, I’ll be watching television or reading the
newspaper and something will catch my eye. A lot of the
time, I’m brainstorming with my mother and an idea hits out
of the blue.
What do you do in your spare time?
I’m a mother of a toddler…what spare time? *grins Actually I
like to bead, so a friend will come around and we have
beading afternoons. Otherwise, reading is my passion.
Where do you imagine yourself in five years with your
writing career?
Um, I’d like to be walking down the red carpet to the
premiere of a movie that has been adapted from my novel… no
pressure lol.
What is the most valuable lesson you have learned as an
author?
Patience, determination and adaptability. If the book isn’t
flowing you need to be able to persevere instead of throwing
the towel in. Determination to keep writing whatever the
hurdles. Be adaptable, take those said hurdles and turn them
into motivation. Easier said than done.
What advice can your give for an aspiring writer?
Can’t succeed with a blank page. Write every day if you can,
even 100 words, but just write. And enjoy what you do, if
you don’t enjoy it why do it?
